Median market cap
The midpoint of market capitalization (market price multiplied by the numberof shares outstanding)of the stocks in a portfolio. Half the stocks in the portfolio will have higher marketcapitalizations; half will have lower.

Medium-Term Guarantee Program

Medium-term note (MTN)
A corporate debt instrument that iscontinuously offered to investors over aperiod of time by an agent of the issuer. Investors can select from maturity bands of: 9 months to 1 year, more than 1 year to 18 months, more than 18months to 2 years, etc., up to 30 years.
Medium-term note retail (MTNR)
Medium-term note designated for retail investors. For example, at Fannie Mae,it means that the bond is designated for individual investors that isunderwritten through a dealer versus issuing through a program, like InvestmentNotes or Benchmark Notes.

The derivatives exchange in Barcelona, Spain, listing futures and options on fixed-interest securities and on interest rates, including the MIBOR (Madrid Interbank Offered Rate).
Meff Renta Variable
Stock index and equity derivatives market in Spain trading futures and options on the Iberian Exchange (IBEX)-35 index and onindividual stocks.
Member bank
A national- or state-chartered bank that is amember of the Federal Reserve System.
Member firm
Used for listed equity securities. Brokerage firm that has at least onemembership on a major stock exchange eventhough, by exchange rules, the membership in the name of an employee and not ofthe firm itself.

The total shares sold short by NYSE members divided by total short sales, which is used to analyze market expectations and bullish or bearish trends.

An organization that supplies credit ratings and reports on firms that are prospectivecustomers.

Merchandise
All movable goods such as cars, textiles, appliances, etc. and 'f.o.b.' meansfree on board.
Merchant bank
A British term for a bank that specializes not in lending out its own funds, but in providing various financial services such as accepting bills arising out of trade, underwriting new issues, and providing advice on acquisitions, mergers, foreign_exchange, portfolio management, etc.
