Municipal revenue bond
A bond issued to finance a public project that is fundedby the revenues of the project.

Mutual fund
Mutual funds are pools of money that are managed by an investment_company. They offer investors avariety of goals, depending on the fund and its investment charter. Some funds, for example, seek to generate income on a regular basis. Others seek to preserve an investor's money. Still others seek to invest in companiesthat are growing at a rapid pace. Funds can impose a sales_charge or load, on investorswhen they buy or sell shares.Many funds these days are no load and impose no sales charge. Mutual fundsare investment companies regulated by the Investment Company Act of 1940. Related: open-end fund, closed-end fund.
Mutual fund cash-to-assets ratio
The portion of the assets of a mutual fund which exists in cash instruments.
Mutual fund custodian
A commercial bank or trust company that holds securities owned by a mutual fund and sometimes acts as transferagent for the mutual fund.
Mutual fund theorem
A result associated with the CAPM, asserting that investors will choose toinvest their entire risky portfolio in a market_index or mutual fund.
Mutual offset
A system, such as the arrangement between the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX), which allows trading positions established on one exchange to be offset or transferred on another exchange.
Mutual savings bank
A state-chartered savings bank which is owned by its depositors and managed by a fiduciary board of trustees.
Mutually exclusive investment decisions
Investment decisions in whichthe acceptance of a project precludes the acceptance of one or more alternativeprojects.
